My First Laptop Computer

Toshiba Satellite L310

Design

The design concept of Toshiba's Satellite L310, like its elder sister L300, is basic. It's a straightforward two-tone laptop in silver and black, and doesn't pretend to be "personalised" to your needs. There's no mess of multimedia buttons either, or a fingerprint scanner. However, simplicity reduces cost, and more resource allocated for true performance other than trying to be fancy.

Features

Satellite L310 features a webcam at the top of the 14.1-inch, 1,280 by 800 screen; modem port on the back; 6-in-1 card reader, wireless on/off switch, headphone and microphone jack, 3 USB port and DVD SuperMulti drive, Ethernet port, VGA out. The L310 is clearly targeted at those who don't update their laptop that often, and are working off a budget.

Internally, it's just functional — a single core Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor, 1GB of RAM will get you by, the Intel GMA X3100 is workable and the 120GB hard drive is a pretty good size for a budget laptop. Make no bones about it, this is not a fancy machine, but for the cost it's really hard to complain — the specs and price makes this the perfect cheap office or Internet machine.
